Bad Points

Admittedly, this program is not exactly perfect. You see, not everyone will be able to achieve a 40+ vertical jump, so it's important to realize that although improves can be made, there is a limit.

Also, because this program requires multi faceted, complex training, this means that if you're expecting to sit down for 20 minutes reading a manual then expect to be superman, forget it!

Also, according to the Jump Manual research says using 85% of your 1RM will always recruit every muscle fibre. This seems a bit "off" to me, because in order to always lift at 85% would mean that you have to perform a 1 rep max attempt for each exercise in the program, and use 85% of that load. Something doesn't quite add up there?


Good Points

Despite a few issues with the "85% rule", the Jump Manual has a lot of solid and effective step by step advice.

First, it asks you to apply principles and practices – the background information that Hiller advocates as well as the physical application needed to achieve a monster vertical. This allows you to understand why you're doing what you're doing, and helps you stay on track and motivated (as well as seeing results of course!).

The other thing I liked is that the Jump Manual recognizes that many people fail due to a lack of motivation and determination. Therefore, Hiller attempts to challenge anyone to stick to his program and see if it works, offering to double your money if you actually try his program and it doesn’t work for you.

Add to that, his attentive coaching and sharp support, motivational material and an easy to follow plan, and this makes the Jump Manual one of the most rewarding training programs out there.

Finally, while many programs focus on a variety of training activities, the Jump Manual focuses only on improving your vertical over a 12-week period of time, by using all means necessary to increase your vertical jump anywhere from 10-25 inches. This seems to make the goal much more within reach, and easier to see results without being distracted or losing momentum.
